Column: Customers may be slow to come back as businesses reopen

A survey in late April by Navigator Research said only 16 percent of those polled would feel comfortable going to a restaurant or bar if the country opened up in the next few weeks, while 10 percent said they would attend public events and gatherings. The research firm, which works with Democratic-leaning organizations, said only about 20 percent of Republicans surveyed felt that way.

The poll respondents were much more likely to want to visit family and friends, go to the grocery store regularly or simply get out of the house more often.
